Certification Centre
The university's Certification Centre is an element of public key's infrastructure managed by the IT Department for employees and students of the Cracow University of Technology.
The main task of this Centre is issuing personal certificates necessary for people willing to access the “eduroam” wireless network or to sign e-mails digitally.
Each “eduroam” user is required to obtain their own certificate, as it is the only way to authenticate and gain access to this network.
In business correspondence, it is obligatory to provide electronic letters with a digital signature prepared using the current employee certificate issued by the IT Department. Using the certificate for secure e-mail transactions makes the sender and the recipient sure that they are communicating with each other and the messages have not been tampered with in transit.
Taking the advantages of certificates into consideration, we highly encourage to download and use them.
In order to obtain a certificate, you need to fill in a form and send an application to generate it.
To download the certificate, log on to the Certification Centre no sooner than the following working day. Simply click “Download” and save the file named “surname_name.p12” on your computer.
The certificates are valid for 5 years. They expire if an employee stops working, or a student stops studying at the University within this period. If the certificate's owner is still working or studying after this time, it is possible to obtain a certificate again.
Information on the processing of personal data in the eduroam network:
- every connection to the eduroam network, both at the Cracow University of Technology and at other institutions, is recorded in the system logs,
- logs can be stored for 6 months,
- logs are treated as personal data files and can be made available only to authorized state authorities,
- logs can be used by eduroam administrators for diagnostic and statistical purposes,
